Wedding host and magician

Your contemporary master of ceremonies

Consider me your contemporary master of ceremonies. I greet your guests as they arrive, announce the important moments, and make sure everyone is exactly where they should be, blending warm humour with mind-blowing magic. You get all the structure a toastmaster brings, without the stuffy formality and red tailcoat. Your venue and wedding planner get a safe pair of hands, and you get to actually enjoy your own wedding, because someone else is watching the clock.

Why it works

What magic does that a playlist can't

It gets strangers talking

A wedding is two families and several friend groups meeting for the first time. Magic gives them an instant shared experience, so the ice is broken in minutes rather than by the third glass of wine.

It works for every single guest

From your youngest cousin to your oldest relative, close-up magic needs no age limit and no explanation. It is one of the few entertainments the whole guest list can enjoy together.

It fills the moments planners worry about

Photographs, room turnarounds, the wait before food. The quiet stretches of a wedding day become the moments your guests remember, instead of the moments they check their phones.

It gives your photographer gold

Genuine astonishment is impossible to fake and wonderful to shoot. The reaction photos from the magic are some of the most natural candids of the whole day.

Two ways to book

Full wedding hosting, or just the magic

Some couples want Jack to run the whole day. Others just want the magic. Here is the difference.

Magic in the background

Wedding magic only

Prefer to keep magic as a lighter touch? Book mix and mingle close-up magic on its own, performed to small groups of 3 to 6 over 1 to 3 hours, before, during or after dinner. All the buzz and the ice broken, without the hosting.

Across your wedding day

What full wedding hosting includes

A warm welcome for every guest

I'm the first friendly face your guests meet, so the day starts with laughter instead of awkward milling about.

Announcements that keep the day moving

Every key moment announced, every guest in the right place, and the speeches introduced properly. Your day runs to plan without you chasing anyone.

Close-up magic during reception drinks

Interactive magic that breaks the ice between families and friend groups while the photos are being taken. No one stands around wondering who to talk to.

Tableside magic at the wedding breakfast

Miracles inches from your guests' eyes between courses, so every table has a shared moment worth talking about.

A magic show before the speeches

A short show that pulls the whole room together, warms everyone up and hands your speakers an audience that is already smiling.

Evening close-up magic

As evening guests arrive, magic keeps the energy up and mixes the two halves of your guest list together.

Planned with you from day one

An in-person discovery meeting, unlimited planning calls, and the whole day mapped start to finish, working directly with your venue and planner.

Just want the magic? Mix and mingle

If you would rather keep magic in the background, I perform to small groups of 3 to 6 at a time over 1 to 3 hours. All the buzz, none of the fuss.

Start to finish

How your wedding day flows

Every wedding is different, but the shape of a great one is not. Here is where I fit, from first arrival to last dance.

  1. 1

    Guests arrive

While you are having photographs taken or finishing getting ready, I am the first friendly face your guests meet. Nobody stands around wondering what happens next, and the day starts warm.

  2. 2

    Reception drinks

Close-up magic moves through the drinks reception in groups of three to six, breaking the ice between two families and friend groups meeting for the first time. By the time everyone sits down, they already have something to talk about.

  3. 3

    The wedding breakfast

Guests are called through and seated without fuss, and tableside magic runs between courses so every table gets a shared moment. Announcements land when they should, which keeps the kitchen, the venue and the photographer in sync.

  4. 4

    Before the speeches

A short show pulls the whole room together and warms everyone up, so your speakers stand up in front of an audience that is already smiling. It is the kindest thing you can do for a nervous best man.

  5. 5

    Into the evening

As evening guests arrive, magic bridges the two halves of your guest list and keeps the energy up until the dance floor takes over. The day ends the way it began: everyone in it together.

Your venue and planner get one reliable point of contact, and you get a day where everything simply happens.

  • In-person discovery meeting, then unlimited planning calls
  • The full day mapped start to finish before anyone arrives

Reviews

Rated 5.0 by the people who booked him.

You will not find a sharper, smarter, more engaging mentalist working today. Jack blended corporate professionalism with genuine jaw-dropping moments. No filler, no slow sections, no cheesy lines. Days later, people were still sending messages about how on earth he did what he did. If you want people laughing, gasping and talking about the experience long after it is over, hire Jack Thomson. Immediately.

He isn't the cheesy, rabbit-out-of-a-hat type. He captures the attention of the whole room. Even people who 'don't like magic' end up saying 'do another one!'. Very nice guy, even better magician.
Douglas Holliday
The students and staff were absolutely amazed by the tricks you performed. It created a fantastic atmosphere and made the Prom such a memorable success, with so many people captivated and enjoying the night.

A day your guests talk about for years, not just on the night.

Questions

Wedding booking, answered

Do we have to book you for the whole day?

No. Many couples book the full hosting-plus-magic package, but you can also book mix and mingle close-up magic on its own, performed to small groups of 3 to 6 over 1 to 3 hours, whenever it suits your day.

Will you work with our venue and wedding planner?

Yes, always. I coordinate directly with your venue team and planner so the timings, announcements and entertainment all pull in the same direction.

Is the magic suitable for all ages?

Yes. Close-up magic works for every generation at your wedding, from children to grandparents, and it is a natural ice-breaker between guests who have never met.

How does planning work?

We start with an in-person discovery meeting, then you get unlimited planning calls in the run-up. By the wedding day, every moment is planned start to finish.

Are you insured?

Yes, fully insured, and happy to provide whatever paperwork your venue needs.

What happens after we enquire?

Check your date and you will have a quote within 24 hours if it is free. It is a fixed quote with no hidden extras, and there is no obligation.

How is this different from a traditional toastmaster?

You get everything a toastmaster brings: announcements, timings and the speeches introduced properly, without the red tailcoat and the formality. And because the entertainment is built in, you book one supplier instead of two.

When during the day does the magic actually happen?

Wherever your day needs it: during reception drinks, between courses at the wedding breakfast, as a short show before the speeches, and as evening guests arrive. If you book magic only, mix and mingle runs for 1 to 3 hours, performed to groups of 3 to 6, at whichever point suits you.

Do you only cover Cheltenham and Gloucestershire?

Jack is based near Cheltenham and most of his weddings are across Cheltenham and Gloucestershire, but he performs UK-wide. If your venue is further afield, just say so in the enquiry.

Will the magic embarrass anyone?

No. Nobody is dragged up or made the punchline. The magic is performed to guests, not at them, which is exactly why it works for every generation in the room.
